"Single Light Portrait"

I was goofing off with some studio lighting. I plopped Courtney down and told her to look down. What you don't see in the picture is that she just jumped out of the shower, has a hat on her head and is in her pj's. I love having live in models that just patronize me so that I can set lights take a quick shot and then let them go to bed.

"Feaf Prints"

Every fall, when the leaves blow from the trees, my driveway has leaf prints all over it. This is the first one of the season. I can't wait to take more photos. The textures that the leafs make are pretty cool.

Keep checking back.

"Untitled"

I can't think of a clever title for this one. Help me out! This was taken at an abandoned home warehouse I came across this afternoon.

"Play Nice"

This is one of the rare times I have caught my kids being nice to each other in public. The little one was "watering" the big one. How precious!

(This is a photo from last year. The little one is on the yearbook staff and she ask me for it.)

"Illumination"

Friday night during one of our much needed rain storms, the power in our neighborhood went out. After the candles and flashlights were finished being used, somehow they ended up on my desk. I guess I need to go and scatter them back through the house if we need them again.

Last night's Halloween Party... need I say more!

"Relax There Kitty"

This is Mervin taking over my office chair. I usually shoo him away when I need to work but, I didn't have the heart to do it today. I settled for the extra, less comfortable chair.

"Forum Photo"

Most of you all can disregard this post. This is for a discussion that I am in on a forum web site that I frequent.

Now for the discussion; the left photo was taken between flash cycles of my strobes. The natural looking light (on the right) was synthetic. There are no windows in the church at all so working without a flash would have been impossible.

"One From The Band"

"Band Shadows"

Thank you all who showed interest in the photos shot yesterday at Powhatan Field! I enjoyed the competition and the music was excellent.

I am sorry that the group photos weren't taken (other than Granby) because of poor communication well between us and your schools. However, we still shot well over 1500 individual photos of the competition and these photos and information on how to order prints will be given to your band directors. So, please bug them to make cd's for you to look at and please call me so that I can get your photos to you.

Thanks again. You looked great and the selections you preformed were awesome.

"Photo Debate"

I am posting another copy of a photo I shot last weekend because this shot has spawned a little debate in my house. I printed a copy of the shot you see in the upper left corner and my wife asked "Why is the little girl upside down?" The large shot has no editing done to it at all. It is straight out of the camera and at the angle that I shot it. My opinion is that this is one of those quirky little photos that can almost be used upside down (not shown here). The bottom left shot is another way I could have presented this photo with text in the upper third.

Not that this will cause a big debate in your homes tonight... I just thought it was interesting.

"Future Coach"

This little guy was at my daughters field hockey game last week. After the game they put him down and he hit the ground running.

"Painting"

This photo was taken at the festival this weekend. I was asked to cover the event by my my in-laws, who are part of the group that runs the event. This was a freebie, but I didn't mind because I made "in-law" points (if you have in-laws... you know what I mean).

I added the text to my original photo frankly so I could see what it would look like. This photo was not blurred at the bottom in editing. It was shot that way. This is one of those little blessings that I get sometimes when I look over my work because the depth of field just screamed out for a lower third ad. Plus I am a little sentimental seeing little girls in pigtails. We did the same thing with both of our daughters.

(I did adjust the black levels and added a vignette and my copyright stamp however no other photoshop techniques were used; other than the text.)
